2021 Recipients

Richard Tombello

Mr. Tombello received a Letter of Recognition for his attention to detail, calm demeanor, and quick action of notification.

On Saturday, January 22nd at approximately 0200, Officer Richard Tombello notified his account manager, Robert Cruz, about a critical seawater pump alarm notification. This alarm, generated by the Metasys system, monitors all vital wet lab settings. A seawater pump failure could disrupt sensitive experiments and conceivably end years of experimentation and data if Officer Tombello did not take immediate direct action.

After assessing and reviewing the situation with Project Manager Robert Cruz, Officer Tombello contacted the facilities manager Russ Ahlgren to begin recalling maintenance workers to address the problem. During this time, with the seawater pump out of service, the issue became so severe that the water troughs that provide the cooling water ran empty. Maintenance arrived at approximately 0400 and initiated corrective action.

John Walton

Mr. Walton received a Letter of Recognition for his outstanding professionalism and dedication at The Department of Transportation Volpe Center contract. While conducting a routine patrol at The Department of Transportation Volpe Center, Mr. Walton discovered a severe water leak, putting thousands of dollars of machinery as well as human safety at risk.
